Role Mission: The Safety Compliance Manager works with the Director of Safety and Security to maintain a safe and secure physical and virtual learning environment for students, employees, and visitors by supporting the implementation and enforcement of local, state, and federal safety and security regulations across the various regions in which IDEA operates. This role reports to the Director of Safety and Security.

 

IDEA Public Schools is compliant with legislation and rules pertaining to school safety

  • Works closely with the Director of Safety and Security to monitor, anticipate, incorporate, and act on school safety legislation and rules
  • Coordinates with state and local authorities in regions and municipalities where IDEA operates to identify regulations and legislations that impact campuses and draft policies and procedures to be in compliance
  • Monitors emergency drills for completion and compliance in all regions in alignment with local and state regulations
  • Convenes and leads internal safety and security committee with key stakeholders on a bimonthly basis in partnership with the Director of Safety and Security with a focus on identifying, building, and sustaining safety and security systems to support compliance efforts

 

District, regional, and campus Emergency Operations Plans & trainings are maintained and revised quarterly

  • Maintains emergency response resources and coordinates quarterly revision efforts based on legal requirements, IDEA’s historical data, disaster research, and research-based industry best practices
  • Provides training to regional and campus leaders to create their multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for required components
  • Manages the Safety & Security HUB site and Crisis Management Playbook to ensure all resources are aligned, revised, and updated quarterly
  • Collaborates with Manager of Mental Health Crisis Support to ensure anonymous threat reporting systems are in place, utilized, and followed up with throughout the regions
  • Partners with local law enforcement on local compliance (ie. physical infrastructure) and threat prevention to support local emergency response coordination efforts

 

100% of Campus Crisis Team members and school staff complete required annual training

  • Coordinates the efforts of the Campus Crisis Teams (including mandatory CCT/BTA meetings and RR/BTA trainings)
  • Oversees safety and security professional development program implementation and completion for RDOs, APOs, campus leaders and staff throughout the year; follows-up on execution of processes and next steps
  • Assists in analyzing campus data to identify areas of growth or additional areas of need to enhance subsequent professional development experiences tailored by campus and region

 

Campus & Regional Emergency Response efforts are coordinated and executed with fidelity 90% of the time

  • Develops comprehensive emergency response plans for multiple potential scenarios (hurricane, flood, fire, etc.) that outlines the standard emergency response for each department and provides timeline for expected response
  • Coordinates development of district emergency response efforts in collaboration with the Director of Safety and Security and campus, regional & national operations leaders
  • Assists stakeholders involved in campus/community/region-wide emergency response efforts
  • Develops tracking mechanisms to monitor the implementation of response efforts
  • Analyzes data from response efforts from regional support teams to identify process improvements for future emergency situations
  • Acts as thought-partner and support to regional support teams to identify alternate pathways whenever roadblocks are encountered in executing emergency response efforts

 

Safety and Security audits are executed annually for 100% of IDEA sites 

  • Trains regional teams to conduct annual safety audits.
  • Leads and tracks the efforts to conduct annual safety audits.
  • Performs site visits to support with campus safety and security audits
  • Creates analysis of findings from safety audits to present to Director of Safety and Security
  • Manages improvement plans when campus improvements are needed
  • Prepares all required state reports and ensures they meet local, board, and state approval requirements

Other Responsibilities:

          Travel requirement: 30% to various regions and schools for on-site support and in-field work

          Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the responsibilities of the position evolve

 

Qualifications:

          Education: Bachelor’s degree required

          Experience:

3+ years of in school operations required

4+ years of professional experience required

Experience with emergency management preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

          Remarkable oral/written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills

          Strong leadership experience with a track record of accomplishing results

          Persuasiveness and perseverance in attaining goals

          Ability to work independently and with others

 

Compensation:

  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $60,569 to $72,683, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications
  • This role is eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment
