Role Mission: This immediate, full-time opening for the role of the Network Administrator I – IPS is an opportunity to maintain and support the day-to-day operations, as well as support projects and campus openings, regarding networked information systems nationally for academic entities governed by IPS Enterprises – IDEA Florida, IDEA Louisiana, IDEA Greater Cincinnati and a future IDEA Arkansas region. You would be physically based out of our Florida – Tampa Bay region handling daily network issues and troubleshooting there in-person and/or remote when appropriate while also handling all other IPS regions mentioned in the entities above outside of the Tampa Bay region remotely with some travel required to any given region or campus under the as forementioned regions for any project and/or issue necessitating your physical presence and travel approved by your manager. By driving forward and maintaining the networked systems in these areas, you will be helping IDEA always ensure access to instructional resources to staff and students within them. You will report directly to the Network and Voice Director for IDEA and work alongside our Network Engineer and IT Project Management Team to achieve success in the growth of IDEA within the IPS entities with the opening of new campuses/offices and campus additions. You will report to work during regular hours of 8AM to 5PM EST and be on call 24/7/365 to report and resolve outages that occur within sites in your coverage area. If you do not currently reside within the Tampa Bay area, relocation will be considered for applicants who meet all other criteria.


Required skills/Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree Preferred
  • 2+ years relevant experience in IT Networking w/ proof of at least one IT Networking certification, certificate preferably earned within the last 5 years
  • Superior troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under varying degrees of pressure
  • Ability to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers as well as leadership roles all aspects of your role and projects
  • Ability to work with and instruct vendors and/or end users on troubleshooting tasks and/or projects

Required experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in troubleshooting and physically installing, setting up and configuring network hardware and/or replacements including network switches, wireless access points and VoIP Phones
  • Experience in troubleshooting Ethernet cabling as well as traditional copper phone lines and DMARCs
  • Proficient knowledge using Cisco Switch and Router technologies
  • Experience with basic network protocols and tools such as syslog, snmp, and netflow
  • Experience creating both internal and client-facing documentation and diagrams for varying degrees of audience understanding
  • Experience effectively working with a team, customer-base and third-parties in a remote environment
  • Active CCNA certification earned within the last 3 years preferred




Implement, and develop network hardware to provide 100% BoY (beginning of year) deliverables by FDoS (first day of school) for all IDEA Louisiana, IDEA Florida, IDEA Greater Cincinnati, future IDEA Arkansas campuses and IPS regional offices

  •        Configure and coordinate installations of network equipment
  •        Document and enforce network system standardization
  •        Monitor network configuration back-up procedures
  •        Supports regional IP address allocation
  •        Ensure 100% of staff members will have proper network access


Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problems, and outages to maintain 99.5% uptime for the year

  •        Responsible for reviewing SolarWinds, a network monitoring solution to track network performance and uptime
  •        Provides and supports the network services for assigned region
  •        Performs ongoing network maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements to optimize network performance, availability, stability and security


Ensure 100% of network connected systems and resources are at a Security Maturity Level of at least "2 – Repeatable" in accordance with the Texas Cyber Security Framework

  •        Maintain ACLs
  •        Configure and secure network systems with policies defined in partnership with security operations center
  •        Partnering with security operations center to provide resolution to escalations and vulnerabilities 


100% of all network infrastructure maintained and analyzed on a quarterly basis

  • Monitoring platform is up to date with accurate maps per region
  • Network configuration meets compliance based on the global configuration template
  • Bandwidth and traffic patterns reviewed and documented
  • Site-walks are completed yearly ensuring MDF and IDFs meet IT standards

Meet Helpdesk ticket expectations (95% Helpdesk tickets responded to within 72hrs/ no more than 90% tickets completed remotely) and improve individualized client support by receiving feedback through helpdesk surveys and focus groups (80% user satisfaction rating from each school).

  • Effective planning and scheduling to review and resolve tickets efficiently.
  • Constant communication with our end-users to meet and exceed customer satisfaction. 

Physical Requirements

  • Working on a computer and typing for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. and the use of ladders and tools necessary at times for network equipment installations and replacements
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to travel within the United States of America using all modes of travel

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $55,063 to $65,525, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications
  • This role is eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment
