Role Mission:  

IDEA’s Regional Manager of Staffing (RMS) supports strategy execution related to recruitment and hiring within their region.  This is to ensure there is an excellent teacher in every classroom and an excellent leadership team leading every school and that they have strong support and regional staff members helping them accomplish their work.  The RMS will work closely with the Regional Director of Staffing and Operations, regional leadership team, national Human Assets team, and external partners to attract, engage, and select high quality candidates for all campus and regional team openings. They are also skilled in supporting talent managers with the retention of their talent. The RMS will support developing a team of Talent Recruiters and Talent Partners who will support schools with all of their talent needs. The RMS is responsible for supporting the development of the regional recruitment strategy and managing the selection, hiring, and matriculation process for all campus and regional team positions to ensure that the region has the talent IDEA requires in order to meet its yearly student achievement goals and, ultimately, 100% college matriculation.  RMSs serve as strategic partners to school and regional leaders around organizational health, retention, staffing, and other talent needs.  




  1. 100% of campus staff members are hired and “IDEA ready” by first day of work calendar 
  • Support in determining regional hiring projections and weekly benchmark goals to manage hiring throughout the year 
  • Schedule and plan hiring events 
  • Communicate progress with senior district and regional leadership 
  • Evaluate the health of our grade level and content pools based on our projected hiring need and adjust course accordingly 
  • Engage in monthly check-ins with principals to review hiring progress 
  • Apply regional, campus, and/or team non-negotiables for regional headquarters and all campus positions (leadership, teaching, co-teaching, support, and operations) through additional region-specific selection criteria including, but not limited to phone interviews and additional region-specific selection exercises 
  • Ensure candidates receive communication from IDEA within the appropriate timelines in order to provide the best candidate experience: 
  • Engage with candidates regularly to keep them informed of their status 
  • In the event a candidate does not move forward, communicate final decisions in a timely manner 
  • Hiring managers schedule final interviews within 5 days of receiving a candidate 
  • Candidates hear back from IDEA within 5 business days from their final interview 
  • Post all necessary requisitions in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Jobvite 
  • Support campus talent managers in the hiring of all staff 
  • Support the coaching and development of principals to manage a strong hiring process that enables them to efficiently and effectively hire the right people to join their teams 


  1. 100% of Principal and Principal in Residence (PIR) vacancies are filled with a high-quality candidate by 4 weeks before the start of their work calendar or PD 
  • Partner with the Regional Managing Director of Staffing and HR for principal selection and understanding the regional principal preferences and PIRs who are “principal-ready” 
  • Effectively screen candidates and partner with the Executive Recruitment team to ensure that there are three strong candidates for every Principal and PIR vacancy  
  • Partner with Regional Managing Director of Staffing and HR, along with Executive Recruitment team to plan and facilitate regional interview days 
  • Support coaching and training regional leaders to use selection tools effectively 
  • Communicate consistently around vacancies and promotions to ensure a smooth hiring process for all positions 


  1. 85% teacher retention and 85% staff retention in region 
  • Collaborate with Regional Managing Director of Staffing and HR and regional lead team members on strategies to engage the regional staff and build strong regional culture 
  • Conduct empathy interviews, pulse checks, and retention conversations to understand the needs and career plans of regional staff members and debrief with the Executive Director 
  • Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons for departures 
  • Consult with current and potential regional team members if/as requested to help with career planning 
  • Provide support and resources to managers as needed to help them improve engagement of their direct reports 


  1. Achieve an A-rating as a district 
  • Ensure instructional and school lead team vacancies are filled within two weeks, with special emphasis on teachers of state-tested subjects 
  • Manage and monitor expectations for quickly filling mid-year vacancies 
  • Develop systems that enable the team to respond rapidly when vacancies arise 
  • Recruit and hire top instructional talent to fill all positions 


  1. 15% of in region instructional applicants are considered AA 
  • Support coaching principals on keeping the pulse on their staff and avoiding “summer surprise” resignations 
  • Support in the preparation of contingency plans for staff who may leave, having high-quality candidates on deck to fill last-minute vacancies 
  • Support the effective onboarding of all staff in the region, ensuring talent managers have an onboarding plan for each new hire and implement best practices in onboarding 
  • In partnership with the Regional Managing Director of Staffing and HR, manage the regional Staffing team to support a smooth Beginning of Year at all schools in the region

 Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manages all Talent Partners and Talent Recruiters in the region (exact number of staff varies by region size)  


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of staffing and recruitment experience; preferably in K-12 education setting 
  • Must be willing to travel 1-2 times per month to other IDEA regions for team building, trainings, observations, etc. 
  • Must be willing to work over 40 hours per week with some nights and weekends 

Salaries for this role typically fall between $70,397 and $85,181, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
