Risk Management Specialist


Role Mission:


The Risk Management Specialist will provide support to the Risk Management team by helping mature our risk management capabilities by utilizing and promoting all of the Risk Management Services and resources. S/he will have the responsibility of assisting with the overall operation, identify, assess and support with leading a safe learning and work environment, that will help manage and mitigate the organization’s operational risks


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for this role fall between $60,500 and $72,600, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.

In this role you will: 

  • Support with the development and implementation of policies, and procedures, and provide data and consultation to help measure the results of compliance with such policies
  • Work cross-functionally to enforce all policies and procedures across all teams and org wide
  • Serve as the resource person on all student accidents and provide support to campuses and parents regarding claim submission
  • Maintain records of insurance claims and student accident injuries
  • Assist with the review and verification of Certificates of Insurance furnished by vendors and community organizations.  Manage all vendor COI’s by monitoring and tracking accordingly. 
  • Lead on all communication with end users relating to COI issuance, changes, coverages, etc.
  • Support with vendor background check requirements, screening and policies across all regions
  • Monitor and maintain records of all insurance invoices and payments
  • Assist in the preparation of all required reports and maintain all appropriate records
  • Actively support and promote the records management program throughout IDEA Public Schools
  • Provide support to Risk Management lead team in creating training materials, resources and presentations
  • Supports with the development of a wide variety of written materials in both manual and electronic formats (e.g. compliance reports, forms, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
  • Coordinate the voluntary Student Accident Insurance program to vendor and brochure information.  Coordinate with athletic coordinators on the program for our student athletes.

  •        Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.
  •        Excellent customer service skills, both written and oral, and maintain confidentiality in all matters
  •        Excellent verbal, written presentational, and interpersonal skills to interact with carriers and staff at all levels
  •        Excellent time management and organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment


Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, human resources, or related field preferred


Knowledge and Skills

Effective oral Knowledge of how to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Strong oral and written communication skills

High level of attention to detail

Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and procedures

Requires the ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing workers’ compensation

Ability to learn software programs and system processes with ease
