Payroll Specialist

 

Role Mission: The Payroll Specialist –executes payroll for a segment of IDEA staff members and performs tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records In addition, the Payroll Specialist provides excellent customer service to employees. The Payroll Team partners with the speciality services to ensure accuracy in required payroll-related reporting to internal and external partners. This individual will also be responsible for auditing and verification of employee setups related to employee’s pay. The ideal candidate must be analytical, detail-oriented, and must have great communicational skills. Previous experience in payroll or experience in other administrative tasks in an educational setting is preferred but will also consider candidates with a general HR background with strong technical/analytical skills.

 

Accountabilities:

1. Process Payrolls with 99.75% accuracy

  • Work with EIS team to ensure all new hires and changes are updated prior to payroll submission
  • Utilize knowledge of excel to audit current payroll against previous payroll
  • Submit accounting adjustments to Accounting Team when necessary
  • Maintain the off-cycle payroll log
  • Maintain payroll and employee records
  • Works under general supervision

2. Process all exits for staff within 48 hours of receipt of ticket

  • Work with EIS team to ensure all PAs are reported from campuses/departments timely.

3. Ensure all monthly staff have timesheets submitted accurately and on time

  • Maintain timekeeping system and provide support to monthly staff
  • Maintain monthly staff status in timekeeping system

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Associate‘s degree or equivalent payroll experience or education

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Effectiveness in written and verbal communication
  • Possess team oriented and “no excuses” attitude  
  • An overall understanding of federal, state and local payroll regulations

Compensation:

Salaries for this role typically fall between $19.19/hour and $23.98/hour, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
