Role Mission: The CNP Director of Compliance ensures all regions in the district are aligned and properly executed on all matters of federal, state, and local regulations.  Director of Compliance is the subject matter expert in all knowledge these regulations and nuances of each region. Currently, the IDEA District spans across 12 regions and 4 states with 90 unique campuses in total.  The role leads the CNP compliance team that is responsible for executing all phases of CNP audit readiness, response and or corrective action communication and follow up. The role also leads organizational teams in strategic planning for short- and long-term success as it relates to maintaining compliant operations in all regions/states we have presence in.  Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to: regularly meet with internal and external stakeholders and auditors; preparing, reviewing, and archiving all documentation for internal/external audits; developing and or revising departmental standard operating procedures, stress testing corrective action plans.

 

Role Location: 

  • The CNP Director of Compliance can be remote, but should be willing to work in any region in Texas where IDEA is located.

Compensation:

  • Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $82,090 and $100,971, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.

In this role, you will:

  • Collect, manage and analyze internal or external monitoring process to identify gaps and provide recommendations for course correction 
  • Oversee and approve the efforts in the creation and implementation of a department audit readiness resources that depicts all steps necessary for internal audit schedule, and external audit
  • Collect, manage, & analyze survey data to identify trends and patterns in menu performance and acceptability.
  • Prepare and present quarterly compliance report to Chief Operating Officer
  • Write and submit Corrective Action plans as appropriate to local, state and federal regulatory agencies 
  • Meet and/or delegate with functional departments to provide status updates of past, current or upcoming audits and ensure next steps are being met by respective deadline 
  • Glean and cascade information and/or changes in respective state and federal guidelines internally to appropriate department or senior leadership 
  • Collaborate and approve mechanisms to stress test internal process and procedures to ensure they meet local, state, and federal guidelines 
  • Lead CNP in successful new state/region program launch with review of all necessary documentation, updates as necessary, and coordination between campus leadership and CNP leadership so there is open communication and transparency 
  • Approve revisions for standard operating procedures and trainings to ensure they are relevant and current 
  • Review departmental job satisfaction survey results and develop strategy for continuous improvement
  • Cascade new region launch plans for a successful first day of school
  • Oversee breakfast, lunch and supper application submission through respective state entities
  • Provide support for campuses in all compliance related tasks and deliverables.
  • Work with both HQ and campus teams to demonstrate continuous improvement in the areas of program compliance, pilots, projects, initiatives, and priorities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of federal and state audit processes for internal, external, single audits and state audit reviews 
  • Strong computer literacy is required with a hyper focus on the Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong understanding of budget creation to ensure that programs are cost effective, funds are managed prudently, and expenses follow federal, state, and local guidelines. 
  • Strong time management and able to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex documents and policies. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and takes initiative in the spirit of continuous improvement. 
  • Business awareness and knowledge of management practices. 
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills and able to internalize feedback. 
  • Strong character to implement policy & procedures. 
  • Ability to work irregular hours during peak times through the year. 
  • Ability to handle 20% travel within state and other states where IDEA Public Schools has presence.  
  • Demonstrate problem solving, adaptability and flexibility; can reprioritize workload due to inclement weather, schedule changes, and any other potential setback
  • Can work independently with little direction.

 

Required Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Public Administration, or Finance or Business management. Masters of Public Administration, preferred 
  • Experience: a minimum of five (5) years of experience directly related to state and federal school nutrition programs such a USDA National School Lunch Program, National School Breakfast Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program 

 

Individual Goals:

  • 100% of CNP internal scheduled audits completed by June 30th
  • Campus CNP staff received civil rights training by 30th operational day of school
  • Correction action plans completed by deadline for all external audits
  • Campus CNP staff received food safety manager certs and food handlers permits by 30th operational day of school
  • Program set up complete and approved in new regions by FDOS

 

Team Goals:

  • District meets student participation of 80% for breakfast, 80% for lunch, 15% for supper by last day of school
  • 85% of IDEA CNP full-time staff members employed during the 22-23 school year will be retained and return for the start of the 23-24 work calendar.
  • District health inspections average >=95% with no failed inspections by June 30th
