Role Mission:

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction and manages the learning environment.The substitute is responsible foralways ensuring student safetyby activelysupervisingscholarswhile maintaining a positive environment.This position reports directly to theRegional Substitute Staffing Managerandis managed at the campus level for day-to-day assignments by theadministrative assistant, campusprincipal andinstructionallead team.

  • Work a minimum of 2 assignments a week
  • Be on time and complete all scheduled assignments
  • Hours: 7:15 a.m. 4:15 p.m.
  • Execute lesson plans and perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure student safety
  • Maintain positive learning environment

$115 per day for Bachelor's degreed subs.$100 per day for non-degreed substitute teachers.An increase in pay occurs when a substitute works a long-term assignments (+10 consecutive days on the same assignment) $200 per day.

In this role you will:

1- Perform substitute duties as assigned

  • Follow substitute plans asindicatedby administration orabsent teacher.
  • Conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times
  • Complete additional duties, which could include hallway, lunch or recess monitoring
  • Maintain a safe learning environment utilizing the campus behavior management system and resources
  • Actively monitors students at all times
  • Use positive reinforcement when responding to students

2- Complete Professional Development and comply with all legal requirements

  • Complete assigned professional development and compliance courses (synchronous or asynchronous)upon hire, and throughout the school year asneeded.

3- Follows professional practices and regulations consistent with IDEA systems andpolicies in working with students, students records, parents, and colleagues.

  • Implement feedback received from campus leadership and/or Regional Substitute Staffing Manager
  • Use IDEA e-mail account for all communication and respond to all communication within 24 hours.
  • Dress in a manner consistent with school policies.
  • Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
  • Establishand maintaina cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • Model correct use of English oral and written language.
  • Contribute in a positive way to the school-wide culture
  • Assume responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings while on campus.

4- Ensure accuracy of Frontline our substitute management and scheduling tool

  • Work a minimum of 2 assignments per week
  • Cancel assignment(s) with a 48-hour advance notice
  • In an emergency cancelation, contact the school and manager before 6:45 a.m.
  • Review Frontline records weekly to ensure accuracy

5- Fulfill all additional Long-Term Substitute expectations if you accept such an assignment

  • Work 5 days a week
  • Participate in on-going professional development for implementing curriculum
  • Review curriculum, prepare and adapt lesson plans
  • Input student grades in a timely manner
  • Long-Term Substitutes are expected to utilize the teacher planning period to complete additional responsibilities.
  • Work is not to be completed outside the hours of 7:15 4:15


  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution OR a high-school diploma and at least 1 year of experience working with children.
  • Pass a background check
  • Able to read, write,speak,and understand the Englishlanguage.
