Regional Director of College Success

Position Overview: IDEA Public Schools’ vision is to become the largest producer of low-income college graduates. As a leading charter organization, IDEA Public Schools is on track to make this vision a reality. The Director of College Success is responsible for the strategy and follow through of all college readiness and matriculation initiatives and support and coaching of Directors of College Counseling and College Counselors.

 

Location: This is a full-time position based in El Paso, TX, with priority given to candidates who live in El Paso or who are willing to relocate.

  

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $69,700  and $85,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

In this role you will:

  • Plan and execute initiatives for financial aid and avoiding the summer melt.
  • Plan for and create a system for following up with high priority senior students throughout the school year and the summer. (SCHOOL Portfolio)
  • Ensure 100% high quality applications to selective and highly selective universities (SCHOOL Portfolio)
  • Lead and Co-Lead high quality Professional Development for DCCs and CCs.
  • Review and provide feedback to all applications to Tier 1 and 2 colleges and universities
  • Plan and execute initiatives for financial aid and avoiding the summer melt.
  • Ensure 100% high quality applications to selective and highly selective universities (SCHOOL Portfolio)
  • Plan and Lead and Co-Lead high quality Professional Development for DCCs and CCs.
  • Plan and execute initiatives for financial aid and avoiding the summer melt.
  • Ensure 100% high quality applications to selective and highly selective universities (SCHOOL Portfolio)
  • Plan and lead and Co-Lead high quality Professional Development for DCCs and CCs.
  • Plan and follow up with CSS Profile, Scholarships and Financial Aid for students applying to and getting accepted to Tier 1 or Tier 2 Universities (SCHOOL Portfolio)
  • Plan and lead and Co-Lead high quality Professional Development for DCCs and CCs.
  • Coach and Develop Director of College Counseling in school portfolio
  • Observe and coach Directors of College Counseling with College Counselors for school portfolio
  • Create team of counselors for school portfolio
  • Create strategy and vision for Track 4 training for the national team
  • Roll out, observe and provide feedback on the roll out of Track 4 training
  • Provide training, coaching and support for Track 4 training

 

Skills and Experience:

Degree:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years teaching and 3 years school administrative experience (required)
  • Experience with Coaching and developing leaders at the regional or national level preferred
  • Experience managing others to achieve goals
  • Proven track record of success leading an “A” or “B” rated school with 100% College Matriculation outcomes
  • Experience with the full cycle process of matriculating a graduating class
  • Experience developing and leading professional development around CCMR, TSI, HB4545, Path to an “A” and the entire college application process
  • Experience with creating master schedules, transcripts, record requests, tracking failures and updating On Track to Graduate (OTG) reports for campus staff
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

As part of the Schools team supporting the El Paso region, you will contribute to reaching the following ambitious goals:

  1.       100% College Matriculation
  2.       50% Tier 1 and Tier 2 Acceptances
  3.       25% Matriculation to Tier 1 or Tier 2 universities
  4.       90% Retention of Directors of College Counseling and College Counselors
  5.       90% of Track 4 Counselors rate proficient or higher on Leadership Competencies addressed in Track 4 training
