Role Mission: The mission of the Information Systems and Technology (IST) Onboarding and Technical Trainer is to ensure the best onboarding and professional development experience for our campus-based and regional roles. They are responsible for designing and delivering effective onboarding training programs for all SIS Coordinators, Registrars, and Computer Technicians to be productive in their roles quickly. Given the rapid growth of IDEA Public School District, our internal pipeline is incredibly important to maintain quality and compliance. Onboarding and technical trainers provide training, mentoring, and support services to ensure that all IST team members have the resources needed to succeed in their role and grow within the organization. They lead the design and execution of training and development for staff from the point of their initial hire and on a continuous, ongoing basis.

 

This role represents the diverse needs of the Information Systems and Technology team, strategically partnering with IST leaders and subject matter experts across the organization to develop and implement aligned functional training programs in compliance with district, state, and national policies. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring the timely delivery of training deliverables and synthesizing learner feedback to improve training, increase staff retention and customer satisfaction

 

This is a full-time national position that supports all four states (Texas/Louisiana/Florida/Arkansas/Ohio).  Preference given to candidates who live in Texas, or who are willing to relocate. Monthly travel is required, the position will be a combination of remote and on-site work. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology, the Onboarding and Technical Trainer is part of the broader IST team which supports the organization on a national level.

Compensation: 

 

  • Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $50.516 and $59,609, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on organizational performance and goal attainment.

Accountabilities:

 

Design and implement training programs to ensure a smooth initial hire period of new Information Systems and Technology campus-based team members.

  • 95% of all first-year IST campus employees finish their first 90 days with IDEA.
  • 90% of all first-year IST campus employees finish and complete the entire first year of their work calendar.
  • 85%[IF3] of all first-year IST campus employees return for their second year of employment with IDEA.
  • Track and support new hires once they complete their orientation and follow the new hires for the first 45-60 days after hire to ensure a complete introduction to the campus, access to systems and[IF4] their new job.

Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to ensure each new team member is set up for success.

  • Ensure 85% of IDEA IST staff retention (HQ staff, campus computer technicians, and campus Registrars and SIS Coordinators)
  • Works closely with Student Information Systems and Technology Operations lead teams to help prioritize campus training needs, continuously improve training programs, and provide ongoing learning and development opportunities for IST roles.
  • Standardize and reduce the variance of employee experiences across the organization by ensuring clear expectations, providing adequate resources and support, and holding managers accountable to ensure effective and equitable outcomes for all. 
  • Facilitate learning on key products, processes, tools, and other professional development areas identified while ensuring learning assessments and practice activities measure knowledge transfer and understanding.
  • Develop and implement operating mechanism to increase team inclusion and collaboration, streamline communication among different departments and lead the team to work more efficiently and strategically.  
  • Celebrate and recognize team members by creating a culture of joy and building team camaraderie. 

Holds self and team accountable to the highest expectations of Instructional Design, Customer Service and Knowledge Management

  • Published technical training programs meet or exceed an average Net Promotor Score (NPS) of 60 as measured by session feedback responses.
  • 95% average customer satisfaction rate in each region where IDEA has operating schools. 
  • Implement best-in-class training methodologies to reach a broad audience with varying levels of experience and comfort with technology.
  • Identifies training requirements and serves as internal consultant to develop ideas and suggest solutions to operational performance issues. Provides technical assistance requiring analytical, evaluative or constructive thinking which resolves daily work challenges.
  • Support the adoption of standards for support documentation across IST departments. Target training programs to ensure the continuous improvement of data integrity.

 

Goals:

You will be responsible for leading the work to meet ambitious project goals for the 2023-24 school year:

  • Define and document a long-term strategy for campus SIS Coordinator and Registrar onboarding and professional development aligned to Student Information System department goals, and technical implementation of our student information systems.
  • Develop a strategic partnership with national and regional leaders on the Student Information Systems team to develop and maintain curriculum [IF5][MS6]for instructor led and computer-based training courses from beginning to end.
  • Implement a training program for campus SIS Coordinators and Registrars to drive their campus toward 95% of official attendance taking time teachers take attendance in the student information system daily.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of new hire instructional design or technical training experience and 1 year of onboarding HR experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with content development & learning management systems required
  • Design and content creation experience using Microsoft applications, Adobe Professional Suite, SharePoint, video editing, and screen capture software

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bilingual (English and strong proficiency in Spanish) preferred
  • Exceptional technical writing, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Training design methodologies such as ADDIE and Design Thinking
  • Ability to design and deliver eLearning, instructor-led and blended learning curriculum
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to listen carefully and to communicate effectively within a diverse environment
  • Able to quickly learn new systems and techniques
