National School Safety Compliance Manager - (Immediate Opening)

Role Mission: The Safety Compliance Manager works with the Director of Safety and Security to maintain a safe and secure physical and virtual learning environment for students, employees, and visitors by supporting the implementation and enforcement of local, state, and federal safety and security regulations across the various regions in which IDEA operates. This role reports to the Director of Safety and Security.

 

IDEA Public Schools is compliant with legislation and rules pertaining to school safety

  • Works with the Director of Safety and Security to monitor, anticipate, incorporate, and act on school safety legislation and rules
  • Drafts policies and procedures to be in compliance with regulations and legislations that impact campuses
  • Manages and tracks safety drill and weekly exterior door audit dashboards for completion and compliance in all regions in alignment with local and state regulations

District, regional, and campus Emergency Operations Plans & trainings are maintained and revised quarterly

  • Manages regional and campus leaders to create and update their multi-hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for required site-based components (such as hazard analysis, site plans, emergency contacts, community partners, and other campus-specific components)
  • Works with the Director of Safety and Security on quarterly revision efforts of emergency management resources based on legal requirements, IDEA’s historical data, disaster research, and research-based industry best practices
  • Supports with managing the Safety & Security HUB site to ensure all resources are aligned, revised, and updated quarterly

Works with the Manager of Mental Health Crisis Support to ensure anonymous threat reporting systems are in place, utilized, and monitored throughout the regions

100% of Campus Crisis Team members and school staff complete required annual training

  • Manages the Campus Crisis Team dashboard to ensure required training compliance of all Campus Crisis Team members (including mandatory CCT/BTA meetings and RR/BTA trainings)
  • Manages compliance training of IDEA’s safety and security professional development program implementation and completion for RDOs, APOs, campus leaders and staff throughout the year, including all legally required school safety trainings
  • Assists in analyzing campus data to identify areas of growth or additional areas of need to enhance subsequent professional development experiences tailored by campus and region

Regional Emergency Response efforts are coordinated and executed with fidelity 90% of the time

  • Develops comprehensive emergency response plans for multiple potential scenarios (hurricane, flood, fire, etc.) that outlines the standard emergency response for each department and provides timeline for expected response
  • Coordinates development of district emergency response efforts in collaboration with the Director of Safety and Security and campus, regional & national operations leaders
  • Assists stakeholders involved in campus/community/region-wide emergency response efforts
  • Develops tracking mechanisms to monitor the implementation of response efforts
  • Analyzes data from response efforts from regional support teams to identify process improvements for future emergency situations
  • Acts as thought-partner and support to regional support teams to identify alternate pathways whenever roadblocks are encountered in executing emergency response efforts

Safety and Security audits are executed annually for 100% of IDEA sites

  • Leads training of regional teams to conduct biannual safety audits
  • Tracks completion efforts of biannual safety and security audits
  • Conducts campus safety and security audits as needed
  • Manages safety and security dashboard to analyze audit findings and present to the Director of Safety and Security
  • Manages improvement plans when campus safety and security improvements are needed

Other Responsibilities:

          Travel requirement: 30% to various regions and schools for on-site support and in-field work

          Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the responsibilities of the position evolve

 

Qualifications:

          Education: Bachelor’s degree required

          Experience:

6+ years of in school operations required

4+ years of professional experience required

Experience with emergency management preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

          Remarkable oral/written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills

          Strong leadership experience with a track record of accomplishing results

          Persuasiveness and perseverance in attaining goals

          Ability to work independently and with others

 

Compensation:

  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $66,626 to $80,618 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications
  • This role is eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment
