Position Control Analyst-Compliance & Grants

 

 

Role Mission:

 

As a Control Analyst at IDEA Public Schools, you will ensure your role is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance within the organization. The primary focus of this role is to maintain precise account coding in accordance with FASRG and audit standards, conduct thorough federal roster reviews, and expertly handle program intent codes, function coding, and state education reporting standards such as PEIMS or other state standards as applicable. You will be responsible for managing base and non-base payroll elements, minimizing changes, and auditing payroll files. Additionally, you will optimize pay types, manage overtime, and extra duties. Collaboration with the Financial Compliance and Grants team will be essential to maintain financial compliance. The Position Control Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and transparency in a non-profit education firm. Your expertise in account coding, federal roster reviews, program intent coding, and collaboration with financial compliance and grants teams will contribute to the organization's mission of providing quality education while maintaining strong financial practices.

 

Language for national roles: This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:

Up to 30% of the time during the busiest parts of the year

 

 

 

What You’ll Do Accountabilities

 

In this role you will:

 

Account Coding Compliance:

  • Ensure correct account coding as per Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG) and audit standards.
  • Verify that all financial transactions are accurately categorized and documented.
  • Conduct investigations into fatal errors and proactively prevent future fatal errors on the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) and other state education reporting documents.

 

Federal Roster Reviews:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of federal rosters to confirm data accuracy and compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies, if any, to maintain compliance and transparency.

 

Program Intent Codes and Function Expert Coding:

  • Expertly manage program intent codes and function coding in accordance with organizational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that codes align with reporting standards and facilitate accurate data analysis.

 

Payroll Management:

  • Manage base payroll coding and non-base payroll elements, including allowances, deductions, and benefits.
  • Minimize changes to payroll account code records and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.

 

Collaboration with Financial Compliance and Grants Team:

  • Work closely with the Financial Compliance team to maintain financial compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with the Grants team to ensure financial transparency and alignment with grant requirements.

 

Pay Type Optimization:

  • Optimize pay types to align with personnel and role requirements.
  • Manage overtime (OT) and extra duties pay, ensuring fairness and compliance with regulations.

Required experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, FASRG, and audit standards.
  • Familiarity with federal and state education reporting requirements, including PEIMS.
  • Proficiency in payroll management, including pay type optimization and payroll auditing.
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.
  • Experience in financial compliance and grants management is a plus.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.

What We Offer:


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $55,000 and $65,500, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment
