Role Mission: The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) will serve as the operations mastermind for their given region. They are a skilled manager and team leader with exemplary customer service skills. The RDO will support the hiring and development of our Assistant Principals of Operations, in concert with campus principals. They are driven by goals and uses data in making decisions, providing in-depth monitoring of regional performance metrics and producing compelling reports to motivate and inspire others to act and share investment in achieving operating outcomes. They have strong analytical skills and can quickly analyze large amounts of data and identify patterns, problems, opportunities. They have a keen attention to detail and can also see the big picture. RDOs will focus on building management capacity and ensure that all operational goals are achieved, with a particular emphasis on ADA, Recruitment, Enrollment, Beginning of Year (BOY) planning, Staff Retention, Financial Stewardship and Land Acquisition. The RDO will serve as the liaison between the region and HQ.

 

 

Location: This is a full-time onsite position located in the Permian Basin. Preference will be given to candidates who live in Midland/Odessa, or who are willing to relocate.

 

What You’ll DoAccountabilities:

 

100% Projected Enrollment for Academy and College Prep by FDOS

  • Assists in the development and executes regional student recruitment efforts that target families with school-aged children immediately surrounding each school
  • Coaches APOs in their region to recruit new families with specific applicant goals per grade level--3:1 ratio (open grade levels) and 2:1 ratio (closed grade levels) while ensuring applications are high quality and ultimately lead to enrollment
  • Ensures all new families in the region are effectively onboarded and persist through their first year in our schools
  • Complies with all federal, state, and organizational student registration requirements throughout the enrollment process (i.e., transfers, testing, etc.)

97.5% Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for Academy and College Prep

  • Ensures new and existing families across the region know and understand attendance expectations, with a particular emphasis on PreK and Kinder families
  • Coaches APOs on the implementation of standardized accountability frameworks to ensure adherence to the outlined ADA policy at each school (i.e., escalation matrix, official attendance taking time, etc.)
  • Collaborates with VPs of Schools to implement best practices, raise awareness of analysis and leverage tracking mechanisms to positively impact ADA progress toward goals (PTGs)
  • Assists with monitoring of ADA workflow to comply with all federal and state ADA guidelines by staying abreast of changes in ADA policy and procedures, and ensuring all relevant school personnel is trained

90% new student persistence for Academy and College Prep

  • New families proactively choose IDEA schools through effective onboarding
  • New families participate in a year-long onboarding program
  • Ensures APOs are effectively partnering with Academic Counselors in developing and implementing a school-based student persistence strategy

100% of campuses are safe and operational one week before FDOS

  • Works with local brokers to identify sites for new potential IDEA schools in line with budget parameters, land specifications, and regional growth plans; with land under contract by November 30
  • Responsible for managing all Beginning of Year (BOY) efforts in region to ensure all schools are set up for success by FDOS with a specific focus on the following areas:
    • 100% of positions filled, staff onboarded and in attendance at summer training
    • 3.5 average score on both the parent and staff BOY surveys
    • o ≥90 score on BOY quality scorecard

85% Ops Staff Retention

  • Responsible for ensuring top performers occupy every seat across all operations roles in the region
  • Builds the leadership and management capacity of APOs to ensure the success of campus ops teams
  • Works with APOs to implement strategies to effectively lead under a dual management structure
  • Performs in-the-field observations (check-ins, huddles, walk-throughs, etc.) and participates in the APO staff development cycle (attend 2X2s, talent reviews, etc.)
  • Collaborates with principals to develop and implement comprehensive onboarding plans that involve the following: goal related skill-building, day-to-day management of ops team, managing up to two leaders, and overall implementation of best practices
  • Leverages the APO Priorities Calendar, routinely assesses APOs based on progress toward goals as well as principal, HQ, and campus ops teams’ feedback; prioritizes support accordingly

Achieves Operational and Financial Excellence in Auxiliary Services (cost/sqft, cost/rider, CNP fund balance)

  • Coaches APOs to lead in the areas of Transportation, Child Nutrition (CNP), and Facilities Maintenance
  • Collaborates with HQ and across regions to provide best-in-class customer service, while achieving operational efficiency and financial targets
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new strategic initiatives with a regional or system-wide impact (i.e., pilots, Healthy Kids Here)

 

What You Bring -- Competencies:

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of launching APOs until transitioned to founding Principals
  • In-Direct Management of APOs at campuses in operation

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Experience: 2+ years of full-time people management required; 2+ years of team leadership; experience with indirect (matrixed) management preferred
  • Experience: 6+ years of professional experience required
  • Experience with data inferencing and process management
  • Understanding and/or personal experience in the K-12 landscape, especially with charters preferred

 

 

What We Offer:


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $96,200 and $119,300 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
