Director of Organizational Policy Implementation     

Role Mission: The Director of Organizational Policy is responsible for evaluating the efficacy of existing policies across the organization and laying out the groundwork for internal stakeholders to meet objectives and goals corresponding with policy revision and implementation. The duties of the position include reviewing and amending existing policies, defining improvements needed and leading the project plan to improve the effects of these policies. This role is responsible for identifying benefits, disadvantages, and omissions in current policies while providing direction and advice that contributes to positive changes within the organization.     


Location: This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.    


What You’ll Do – Accountabilities:    

In this role you will:    

  • Conduct research on existing policies to determine their effectiveness, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Report on findings and propose new policies or amendments to existing policies
  • Ensure that policies and policy amendments meet legal requirements before being submitted to the board
  • Draft new policies or amendments to policies and submit proposals to internal/external counsel for review.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to determine needs and goals of policies
  • Articulate policy recommendations verbally and in writing to executive leadership
  • Develop and lead policy implementation plan and work with stakeholders through the process of implementation with scheduled follow-up
  • Work with stakeholders to develop policy training plans for frontline team members
  • Document processes and disseminate information to stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain a searchable, indexed library of current and historical policies for all entities
  • Ensure policies are digestible, with clear administrative procedures and guidance
  • Review policies for updates (annual, legislative, and procedural) as changes are implemented across the network
  • Ensure policies have a consistent voice, tone, and style


What You Bring Competencies    


Knowledge and Skills    

  • Be knowledgeable in policy issues facing the education sector
  • Stay current on legislation, regulatory requirements, and trends in education across all states occupied by IDEA
  • Work with leadership to develop or revise program-based policies
  • Advocate for policy revisions and development based upon data driven research
  • Understand and articulate broad implications of regulatory changes and other issues to advise stakeholders
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and understanding of historical context of current educational policy


Education and Experience    


  • 6-10 years of previous experience in policy-related roles, with a strong understanding of policy development, evaluation, and implementation. 
  • Master’s or doctorate degree preferred, preferably in a field related to policy analysis, public administration, law or a related discipline. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in navigating complex policy landscapes and interpreting legal language and codes, preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-team /department projects around policy revisions, implementation, and policy monitoring. 
  • Familiarity with quantitative analysis techniques and comprehensive understanding of the historical context and evolution of educational policies. 


What We Offer:    

Compensation & Benefits:    

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $73,900 and $90,200 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
