Regional Special Program Coach

 

Role Mission: The Regional Special Program Coach oversees Instructional Special Programming for their assigned schools to ensure maximum student achievement for their students. The Regional Special Program Coach coaches campus leaders as they support students served through Special Programming, including 504, RTI, and Special Education. The coach builds collaborative business partnerships between regional support personnel, external contracted services and assigned campuses to ensure IDEA’s special programming instructional model is being implemented.

Location: This is a full-time position based in Austin, with preference given to candidates who live in the region or who are willing to relocate.

 

What You’ll Do - Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure successful implementation of RISE at assigned IDEA campuses
  • Coach and develop leaders of the RISE Space to successfully coach/develop to build their capacity to implement RISE Classrooms
  • Build capacity and manage expectations around operating mechanisms between campus and assigned LSSP/SLP/BCBA
  • Coach and Develop leaders of all special education students in their corresponding schools 
  • Train and follow up to ensure all special education teachers in their schools are proficient in Locus dashboards in order to pull, analyze and respond to student data effectively
  • Coach and develop leaders to read, analyze and respond to Interim Assessment data to prioritize the highest leverage next action steps
  • Observe and coach leaders around holding highly effective data conversations to increase student achievement results
  • Coach and develop Special Program campus people so that 100% of Special Programs Plans are implemented
  • Support campus as they norm on and execute on clear criteria for success for implementation of all Special Programs through proactive and responsive training mechanisms
  • Align to and oversee systems of accountability to ensure campus ownership of all implementation criteria
  • Create and facilitate high leverage professional development sessions aimed at building knowledge and skills necessary for Special Program Teachers and leaders
  • Ensure 100% of Special Program teachers and co-teachers are coached towards mastery on and rated on the GET rows using corresponding teacher pathways
  • Support quality control mechanisms that will inform strategic planning and response to Special Programs staff needs such as Pulse Checks, Informal Observations and Business Partnerships with internal departments

What You Bring – Competences:

 

 

Required Experience: 

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred 
  • Experience:   
    • At least 2 years of successful teacher experience required; at least 2 years of school or program leadership strongly preferred 
    • Proven success with Special Education student achievement 
    • ELA content knowledge a plus 
    • Direct Instruction Decoding program knowledge preferred 
  • Licenses or Certifications:  valid state teaching certificate required; special education teaching certificate preferred 

 

 

What We Offer:


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $78,900 and $90,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
