National Content Coach

 

Mission:

The National Literacy Content Coach serves as a crucial bridge between IDEA Headquarters and regional and school leaders to facilitate the development and enhancement of content knowledge and instruction on a national scale. This role requires extensive travel, with approximately 50% of the time spent on-site across various regions. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Indirect support to regional content coaches as applicable 

Location:

This is a full-time hybrid (remote/onsite) position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:    

* up to 50% at the busiest times of the year. 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

 

  • Provide analysis, strategy, and consultancy to develop instructional leaders to improve quality of instruction. 
  • Lead strategic initiatives to build instructional capacity in several regions, such as providing focused analysis to leaders, building content capacity through observation/coaching, designing professional development, and creating deliverables that address strategic curricular needs in regions.
  • Build capacity in school leaders through in-field and virtual coaching to ensure high-quality first instruction and data-driven interventions to close gaps 
  • Design and facilitate timely and content-specific professional development to support instructional organizational priorities and to build capacity of regional and campus leaders to deliver instructional professional development. 
  • Partner with Talent Development Team to create a suite of professional development products for Coaching Academy and Best Practices Library that regional leaders, content coaches, and campus leaders can use so that the district achieves established goals for all leaders and students. 
  • Partner, cross-functionally, with other teams to align on trainings, resources, and priorities, providing and responding to feedback on a consistent basis. 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Hold regular partnership meetings and maintain ongoing communication with regional team members, including Executive Directors, Vice Presidents of Schools, Directors of Leader Development, and Regional Coaches.
  • Create and use resources to support and coach implementation of best practices in delivery of instruction for all students.
  • Partner with Regional and National Schools Team and other departments within the Academic Services Team to design and deliver timely professional development that increases the ability of leaders, and ultimately teachers, to meet ambitious academic goals for all students.
  • Observe and deliver feedback on professional development delivered in partnership with regional and campus leaders.
  • Utilize operating mechanisms and coaching partnerships to ensure effective in field follow up in response to all training. 
  • Additional Duties as assigned.

  • Communicate Deliberately: This individual can express ideas clearly and listen actively. They have developing skills in empathetic listening and responsive speaking, with ability to tailor messages for individual direct reports or peers with the aim to build stronger, more effective relationships.

Required experience:

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum experience: 3+ years of teaching experience; 3+ years of school leadership or other coaching experience.
  • Technology: High level of proficiency with the Office 365 suite. 

Preferred experience:

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in education or subject area.
  • Preferred experience: 2+ years’ experience designing and facilitating professional development. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting items weighing 15 lbs. or less
  • Regular travel may include driving, flying, and overnight hotel stays
  • Up to 50% of time navigating a school environment
  • Up to 75% of time in sedentary office environment
  • Occasional exposure to outside elements

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $81,800 and $95,800, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
