Regional Finance Services Manager

 

Role Mission: IDEA Public Schools is searching for a Regional Finance Services Manager. The Finance Team strives to support the leadership at IDEA as we work together to meet and exceed our ambitious financial and student achievement goals. The Regional Finance Services Manager will partner with Finance, national, regional, and school teams to increase efficiency and provide a high level of support in meeting shared financial goals. They support with designing the organization-wide professional development programs that all officers and financial managers participate in to become stronger in their role and increase capacity across the network and organization. They support in designing professional learning experiences that reflect fundamental components of IDEA’s point of view on fiduciary responsibility, financial compliance, policy and procedures, annual planning, budget management, and customer service.  They engage frequently with national and regional leaders, lead trainings, coach financial managers and finance functional area partners to execute trainings and ensure in-field impact. They also directly support campuses by leading a portfolio of Business Clerks and/or Financial Managers.

 

Location:

This is a full-time remote position located in the Rio Grande Valley. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate.

 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

  • Support business clerks and their staff during the annual planning and budgeting process
  • Ensure regional and campus leaders understand the importance of financial results and their responsibility as IDEA Public Schools fiduciaries, support them in making real connections to their functional work through development programming and resources highlighting key elements of monthly and annual financial results on an entity and regional basis
  • Support in the development of the ability of business clerks regarding financial results and key performance indicators through internal development and resources, observation, and real-time coaching
  • Attend and engage in, operating mechanisms including weekly tacticals, strategy meetings and monthly statement review meetings to ensure appropriate communication and support from the Finance Learning and Development Team
  • Provides leadership, customer focused, and organizational development.
  • Hires, develops, and manages a portfolio of Business Clerks.
  • Coaches and develops a portfolio of Business Clerks using multiple methods including peer work sessions, side by side training, weekly check-ins, and campus visits.
  • Effectively establishes performance requirements and personal development plans for Business Clerks, continually monitors performance, and coaches for continuous improvement and development.
  • Ensures consistency in Business Office standard operating procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Regional Finance Service Managers to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness (e.g., conflict/problem resolution, process/system improvements, resource procurement, supportive environment)

 

 

What You Bring – Competencies

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High-level of knowledge of general finance
  • Demonstrated depth of financial and analytical expertise Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience as a business clerk – builds relationships with IDEA team members while offering analysis and recommending corrective actions based on emerging trends
  • Organizational and time management skills - manages through ambiguity, prioritizes multiple projects to meet Business Office needs
  • Effective communication across multiple levels and mediums
  • Talent and people management skills – screen/interview candidates, deliver/document performance feedback, manage/ address performance issues, identify High Potential talent, recommend promotions, and provide career guidance and mentorship
  • Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders of varying degrees of analytical understanding 
  • Excellent analytical skills 
  • Constantly searching for and learning more regarding analysis methods and tools 
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Excellent mathematical aptitude 
  • Hold ethics and values to high standards

Required experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in finance, professional development design, instructional management or a relevant field

 

What We Offer:

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $70,500 and $82,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
