Description

Role Mission: As an Assistant Principal of Instruction – In Residence, you will engage in an immersive leadership development experience designed to prepare you for the role of Assistant Principal of Instruction. In this role, you will work closely with experienced APIs, actively learning from their practice while contributing to instructional leadership on campus. You will build your expertise in instructional coaching, data-driven instruction, teacher development, and school-wide academic strategy. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, you’ll deepen your leadership acumen and grow into a confident, effective instructional leader. The API-IR will build and maintain relationships with students, families, and staff in service to ensure 100% of students go to and through college.

This position is grant-funded with Permian Strategic Partner funds. This is a grant-funded position and funding may be extended. A grant-funded position has no guarantee of ongoing and indefinite employment. All duties and responsibilities tied to this position are allowable and allocable to the grant. The employee will work solely (100%) on allowable activities outlined in the grant program.

Location: This is a full-time (remote/on-site) position and preference will be given to candidates who live in Texas, or who are willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:

  • Travel to IDEA training events (required)
  • Travel within the region throughout the year as necessary

What We Offer

 

Compensation: 

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $78,996 and $92,030, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment.

IDEA may offer a relocation allowance to defray the cost of moving for this role, if applicable.

 

What You Bring -- Competencies

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree in education or related content field (preferred)
  • Experience: 2+ years of teaching (required); Teaching in public schools (preferred)
  • Experience: Leading other adults (teacher leader, content leader, etc.) (preferred)
  • Experience with curriculum used in Texas Schools (Bluebonnet Math, Eureka Math, Wit and Wisdom, Amplify, etc.) (preferred)

What You’ll Do -- Accountabilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and Develop Teachers: You will build and maintain strong schoolwide systems to ensure all teachers internalize their content, deliver high quality first instruction, and analyze data in order to implement strategic adjustments and interventions that achieve measurable results.
  • Execute Data Systems: You will execute and maintain systems that allow for school-wide data collection, analysis, and action in order to make strategic data-driven decisions.
  • Manage Student Culture and Discipline: You will ensure all teachers are proficient in building positive student relationships, creating effective classroom routines and procedures, reinforcing positive behaviors, and responding consistently and effectively to misbehaviors. You will coach and train teachers to master these skills.
  • Execute Special Program Point People Responsibilities
  • Support Operational Systems: You will maintain strong systems for school operations to ensure your campus is safe, welcoming, and efficiently run.
  • Plan and Lead School Wide Systems: You will maintain strong schoolwide systems such as tutoring, school-wide initiatives and activities, and as assigned.
  • Maintain Compliance: You will complete all required annual compliance training and ensure your direct reports do the same. You will maintain systems to ensure that direct reports and the campus as a whole remain in compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
